NeilPryde Dragonfly RDM - windsurf mast

A mast designed for kids and young riders NeilPryde Dragonfly RDM is built specifically for younger riders who need equipment better suited to their weight, strength and smaller sail sizes. Compared with standard adult masts, this model has a flex characteristic that helps young windsurfers feel the sail more naturally and get better performance from it right from the early stages of learning. The mast was developed to work perfectly with NeilPryde Dragonfly sails, creating a well-matched setup in terms of bend curve and on-water feel. This matters especially during the learning phase, where the right mast has a real impact on how easy the sail is to handle. Lightweight and durable composite construction The construction combines fiberglass and carbon fibers. This gives the mast a well-balanced mix of durability and low weight. It stays light enough for young riders to handle comfortably, while still being strong enough for regular use, sail handling practice and the kind of mistakes that naturally come with progression. The RDM diameter works especially well in youth windsurf equipment. A reduced diameter mast is easier to handle and better suited to smaller hands and lighter rigs. Two lengths matched to different stages of progression The 280 version comes with a very soft IMCS 7 stiffness. It is intended for the youngest and lightest windsurfers, who need a more flexible mast so the sail can work properly even under lower load. This helps young riders feel the signature NeilPryde mast flex more easily. The 340 version has an IMCS 15 stiffness and is the better choice for heavier youths and riders moving into their teenage years. It offers a more supportive feel for bigger sails and is a natural next step for young windsurfers progressing beyond the beginner stage. Shark Skin - reduced friction in the sail sleeve The mast features a Shark Skin surface finish, also used in selected NeilPryde mast ranges. This unique low-friction texture helps prevent wet materials from sticking to the mast surface. In practice, it reduces friction and improves how the sail sleeve moves on the mast.
