Freefoil and fin in one sail
Escape was originally developed as a dedicated freefoil sail, but its evolution has shown that it performs equally well on a fin.
On foil, its lightweight construction, low aerodynamic resistance and cam-free profile support easy handling and smooth transitions. On a fin board, Escape takes on a more traditional freeride character and can deliver a noticeably sportier, freerace-oriented feel as the wind increases.
Higher aspect ratio and shorter boom
A slightly higher aspect ratio combined with a shorter boom reduces swing weight and improves the sail’s response through maneuvers.
This geometry works efficiently with the low drag of a hydrofoil while still maintaining crisp, direct handling on a fin board.
Refined balance
Revised luff curves and re-oriented batten angles lower the center of effort and improve the overall balance of the sail.
This gives Escape a more neutral feel in the hands, particularly when sailed powered.
A slightly lower foot profile further improves control and aerodynamic efficiency at higher speeds.
Wide trim range
One of Escape’s strongest features is its broad tuning range.
Refined luff curves and horizontal shaping allow the sail’s character to be adjusted clearly through downhaul and outhaul settings.
Dual clew eyelets extend this range further. The upper eyelet creates a firmer leech and more low-end power, while the lower position adds elasticity and twist for improved control as wind strength increases.
Carbon Batten System
Escape uses carbon tube battens to help maintain a stable profile under higher loads.
Longer rod sections work together with rear-shifted carbon tube segments to create a shallower profile in the front of the sail. This reduces aerodynamic resistance and supports stable, efficient high-speed performance.
Cross Batten
The Cross Batten links the boom area directly to the batten framework.
Together with the inset clew and leech geometry, it helps control lower-leech twist and improves upper-end control.
Blue HD X-Ply Construction
The HD version uses a full X-Ply construction:
This material layout increases durability and structural stability while keeping overall weight low.
For 2026, the sail also receives 5 mil foot panels and a reinforced 30 mm mast panel seam to improve durability in high-load areas.
Kevlar-Reinforced Clew Panel
A Kevlar-reinforced laminate panel runs from the clew to the batten above the boom.
It strengthens one of the sail’s most heavily loaded areas while also protecting the region around the longest batten during rolling, transport and upright storage, helping reduce creasing and premature material wear.
Side-Alternating X-Ply Batten Pockets
The batten pockets are made from X-Ply with stretch characteristics closely matched to the surrounding panels.
Alternating the pockets from one side of the sail to the other helps reduce asymmetry created by panel seams and supports a more balanced profile on both tacks.
Trim and rigging details
The Trim Diamond provides a visual reference for checking leech release and repeating precise trim settings.
The Full-Opening Mast Pad gives easy access to the mast extension, downhaul system and integrated batten tensioner.
Reducing unnecessary material also lowers overall weight and improves the sail’s center of mass, supporting lighter and more responsive handling.
